Sunt şi se spun multe poveşti despre Castelul Ciucea. Se vorbeşte mai mult despre ultimele sale perioade, de când a intrat în proprietatea lui Octavian Goga. Dar se ştiu mai puţine lucruri despre începuturile sale. Despre faptul că, de exemplu, probabil nu ar fi fost cum este astăzi, dacă domeniul n-ar fi fost pierdut odinioară la poker. Pierdut la poker

„Acesta, la un moment dat, pierde la o partidă de poker, în favoarea avocatului din Huedin, Boncza, o sumă substanţială. Neavând bani lichizi să îşi achite datoria, i-a dăruit avocatului acest teritoriu.

A ajuns cum este datorită femeilor

„Această nepoată cu care s-a căsătorit l-a influenţat să ridice aici un conac, un castel.

Această muncă a fost continuată apoi, foarte puţin timp, de fiica lor Berta, care devine soţia marelui poet maghiar Ady Endre. Dar ei nu au stat prea mult în acest areal, doar între anii 1915-1917, trăind mai mult la Budapesta, până în 1919, când poetul moare din cauza bolilor pe care le avea.

Berta, fiind atunci şi dezamăgită, şi falită, l-a rugat pe Octavian Goga, printr-o scrisoare, ştiind relaţia de prietenie dintre el şi Ady Endre, să îi cumpere acest domeniu.

Octavian Goga, într-un act filantropic, putem spune, îi oferă o sumă de 280.000 de koroane, adică o sumă substanţială, spre nemulţumirea Veturiei. De ce era nemulţumită Veturia?! Pentru că starea acestui conac, atunci, era destul de precară. Dar, datorită Veturiei, începe o acţiune de reconstrucţie şi de construcţie a unor noi imobile”, menţionează istoricul clujean.

„Ceea ce vedem noi acum în acest areal este casa în care au locuit Octavian Goga şi Veturia, apoi e casa Ady Endre, acum o casa memorială Ady Endre, mai avem Casa Albă, unde, în general, erau primiţi musafirii.

Avem şi Casa de pe stâncă, unde era un mic salon de vânătoare. de asemenea, Veturia aduce dintr-un sat din judeţul Sălaj o bisericuţă de lemn, de la Gălpâia.

There are many stories about the Ciucea Castle. There is more talk about the most recent part of its history. More exactly, since it became the property of Octavian Goga. Few people know the beginning of the story, such as the fact that it wouldn’t have been what it is today if the field hadn’t been lost to poker once upon a time, and the fact that three women took care of it. The historian from Cluj, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici, gives us some details.

The Ciucea domain, the beginning

„We are in Ciucea, in the area of the Ciucea castle or mansion. A short history of the mansion that was owned by Octavian Goga and his wife, Veturia.

Originally, this property belonged to a member of the aristocratic Banffy family, who loved gambling”, the historian says.

Lost at poker

“At one point, he lost a substantial amount of money in a poker game to Boncza, the lawyer from Huedin. Having no liquid money to pay his debt, he gave this territory to the lawyer.

Eventually, Boncza married his sister’s daughter”, he adds.

The women who made it what it is today

“This girl whom he married with influenced him to build a mansion here.

Its work continued, for a very short time, by their daughter Berta, who became the wife of the great Hungarian poet Ady Endre. But they did not stay much in this area, only between the years 1915 and 1917. They lived more time in Budapest, until 1919, when the poet died due to the diseases he had.

Berta, being both disappointed and bankrupt, asked Octavian Goga, through a letter, to buy her this domain, knowing the friendship between him and Ady Endre.

Octavian Goga, in a philanthropic act, offers 280,000 korunas, a substantial sum, to Veturia’s displeasure. Why was Veturia unhappy?! Because the state of this mansion back then was quite precarious. But, thanks to Veturia, an action of reconstruction and construction of new buildings began”, the historian points out.

„What we see now in this area is the house where Octavian Goga and Veturia lived, and there is the Ady Endre house, the actual Ady Endre memorial house. We also have the White House, where, in general, guests were being welcomed.

Next, we have the House on the rock, where there was a small hunting lodge. Veturia also brought a small wooden church from a village in Sălaj county, from Galpâia.

Last but not least, a monastery was built, which still functions today, dedicated to Saint Mary”, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici says.
