Casa Matia, cum i se spune acum, este probabil cea mai cunoscută casă din Cluj-Napoca, atât în ţară, cât mai ales în străinătate. Deşi numărul turiştilor pe care îi atrage anual este impresionant, casa în care s-a născut Regele Matia, în 23 februarie 1443, nu poate fi vizitată, cel puţin oficial. Şi nici nu are nimic amenajat în interior care să amintească de celebrul rege. Rege care este posibil să se fi născut nu în încăperea de la parter, ci în una de la etaj. Iar naşterea sa la Cluj nu a fost una accidentală, cum se presupune, ci una premeditată, oraşul nostru fiind ales special pentru marele eveniment. Istoricul clujean Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici aduce informaţii şi argumente în acest sens.

Casă interzisă turiştilor

„Casa Mehffi, acest mare viticultor, foarte bogat. Vedeţi că această casă era situată exact la intrarea în Clujul vechi, în Clujul de 7 hectare. Deci, nu oricine stătea aici în acea perioadă şi nu oricine avea o casă de piatră. În general, casele, în acea perioadă, erau din lemn.

Din păcate, nu putem spune că este o casă memorială. Ea aparţine Universităţii de Artă şi Design şi nu are niciun obiect care să-l reprezinte pe ilustrul rege, iar intrarea se face foarte greu, ajungi ori la latitudinea paznicului, ori a unor oameni de aici, care îţi permit sau nu-ţi permit să o vizitezi. În general, turiştii o văd de afară pentru că, sinceri să fim, înăuntru ai vedea unele camere care sunt transformate în săli de curs şi în rest, mai nimic”, spune, cu nemulţumire, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

Unde şi de ce a fost născut la Cluj Regele Matia

Este destul de cunoscut faptul că Regele Matia s-ar fi născut în încăperea din stânga, de la parter, dar există argumente cum că, de fapt, acest s-ar fi născut într-o altă încăpere, la etaj.

„Mai există o ipoteză a locului de naştere a ilustrului rege, fiindcă, în general, oaspeţii erau cazaţi la etaj, nu la parter”, argumentează istoricul clujean.

Alianţa lui Iancu de Hunedoara cu oraşul Cluj

De asemenea, o altă controversă se referă la motivul naşterii la Cluj a marelui rege. De regulă, se susţine că locul n-a fost ales, că naşterea s-a petrecut accidental în timp ce Elisabeta Szilagyi era pe drum, dar o altă ipoteză susţine că oraşul a fost special ales pentru naştere, ca urmare a unei alianţe pe care Iancu de Hunedoara a avut-o cu clujenii.

„Oficial, foarte multe surse spun că ilustrul rege s-a născut aici datorită faptului că pe Erzsebet sau Elisabeta Szilagyi, venind din Sălaj, pe drum ar fi luat-o durerile naşterii aici şi Matia s-ar fi născut în casa acestui bogat viticultor. Nu prea e adevărat.

Adevărul, se pare, este că marele tată al său, marele comandant de oşti, Iancu de Hunedoara sau Janos Hunyadi, era într-un război perpetuu cu marea nobilime, care nu-i recunoştea calităţile sale reale de mare conducător. Neavând un arbore genealogic de mare nobil, şi-a adus aici soţia intenţionat, ca să nască într-un loc sigur şi să fie păzită de clujeni. De ce?! Pentru că el avea o alianţă cu oraşul Cluj.

Şi unde se întăreşte această afirmaţie: după Răscoala de la Bobâlna dintre 1437-1438, clujenii fiind participanţi în cadrul răscoalei, după înfrângerea ei toate privilegiile clujenilor au fost luate de nobili, dar le-au primit înapoi în anul 1444, la intervenţia lui Iancu de Hunedoara”, afirmă Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

Although the number of tourists it attracts annually is impressive, the house where King Matthias was born on February 23rd 1443 cannot be visited, at least not officially. Nor does it have anything inside that is reminiscent of the famous king. A king who might have been born upstairs, and not in the ground floor room. His birth in Cluj was not an accidental one, as people would say, but a premeditated one, our city being chosen especially for the big event. Local historian Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici brings information and arguments in this regard.

The house that is forbidden to tourists

“The Mehffi House, belonging to a great winemaker who was very rich. You can see that this house was located exactly at the entrance to old Cluj, the 7-hectares Cluj. In other words, few people lived here at the time and few had stone houses. Back then, most houses were made of wood.

Unfortunately, we cannot say it is a memorial house. It belongs to the Art and Design University and there are no items representing the illustrious king. The entrance is made to be extremely difficult, you are allowed to get in only if the guard or some people here will give you permission to visit it. Usually, the tourists see it from the outside because, let’s be honest, the only thing you can see inside is some rooms that have been transformed into classrooms”, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici says with dissatisfaction.

Where King Matthias was born and why he was born in Cluj

It is well known that King Matthias was born in the room on the left, on the ground floor, but there are arguments that, in fact, he was born in another room, upstairs.

„There is another hypothesis of the illustrious king’s birthplace because, in general, the guests were accommodated upstairs, not on the ground floor”, the historian argues.

Also, another controversy is why the king was born in Cluj. Usually, it is claimed that the place was not chosen, that the birth happened accidentally while Elisabeta Szilagyi was on the road, but another hypothesis says that the city was specially chosen for his birth, as a result of an alliance that Iancu de Hunedoara had with the people of Cluj.

“Officially, many sources say that the illustrious king was born here due to the fact that Erzsebet or Elisabeta Szilagyi, coming from Sălaj, would have struggled with the pains of birth here and Matthias would have been born in the house of this rich viticulturist. That’s not true.

It seems that the truth is that his father, the great army commander, Iancu de Hunedoara or Janos Hunyadi, was in a perpetual war with the great nobility, who did not recognize his real qualities as a great leader, not having a family tree. Because he did not have a noble family tree, he brought his wife here on purpose, in order for her to give birth in a safe place and to be guarded by the people of Cluj. Why?! Because he had an alliance with the city of Cluj.

After the Bobâlna riot, between 1437-1438, all the privileges of the people of Cluj were taken by the nobles, the people of Cluj having participated in the riot, but they received them back in 1444, at the intervention of Iancu of Hunedoara „, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici says.
