Biserica Franciscană din Cluj-Napoca este unul dintre cele mai vechi clădiri şi biserici din oraş, iar pe locul ei a fost chiar prima biserică a Clujului. Aceea a fost din lemn, probabil, construită în secolele XI-XII, dar care a fost distrusă în urma marii invazii mongole din 1241. Apoi a fost construită o biserică catolică dominicană, pe urmă a devenit reformată, apoi iar catolică. Forma actuală datează din 1728-1745. Biserica Franciscană adăposteşte şi ascunde multe lucruri interesante, iar câteva dintre ele ne sunt dezvăluit de istoricul clujean Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

Crucile celestă şi terestră

„Aici vorbim de o simbolistică cunoscută de meşterii timpului. Aici este statuia Sfântului Anton cu Iisus, dar ceea ce vedem aici în faţă, un simbol mai puţin cunoscut, poate, de către cei care au trecut pe lângă el, reprezintă crucea terestră pe care o vedeţi, crucea catolică, şi peste ea este crucea celestă.

Biserica Franciscană oferă cunoscătorilor multe alte simboluri grafice, unele dintre ele fiind interpretate diferit de cei preocupaţi de domeniu.

„Jos avem inscripţionat <<Iisus Hominum Salvator>>, adică <<Iisus mântuitorul lumii>>, care era o siglă şi a iezuiţilor, dar nu numai.
Iar sus, unde avem Ochiul lui Dumnezeu, avem un fel de soare cu 14 raze. A nu uita că în bisericile catolice avem Via Dolorosa, adică Drumul Durerii sau Drumul Crucii şi cele 14 opriri ale lui Iisus. De ce?

Pentru că Iisus a fost cruficicat, în calendarul iudaic, în data de 14 Nisan. Şi mai există o ipoteză, o interpretare, că 1 şi cu 4 fac 5, cifra referindu-se la rănile lui Iisus, la cele 5 răni, ultima făcută de străjerul Longinus, care ulterior va trece la creştinism şi va fi unul dintre apostolii mai mici ai creştinismului”, mai explică Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

The Franciscan Church in Cluj-Napoca is one of the oldest buildings and churches in the city, and in its place was the first church in Cluj. It was probably made of wood in the 11th and 12th centuries, but was destroyed by the great Mongol invasion of 1241. Then, a Dominican Catholic church was built, which eventually became Reformed, then Catholic again. The current one dates from 1728-1745. The Franciscan Church shelters and hides many interesting things, and some of them are revealed to us by the historian from Cluj, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

The celestial and earthly crosses

“Here we are talking about a symbolism which was well-known to the craftsmen of the time. This is where the statue of St. Anthony with Jesus is located, but what we see in the front, a lesser known symbol, perhaps, to those who passed by, is the earthly cross, the Catholic cross, and above it, there is the celestial cross. And if we count the sides, there are eight of them, eight meaning infinity”, the historian from Cluj reveals.

Many hidden symbols. God’s eye

The Franciscan Church offers to connoisseurs many other graphic symbols, some of them being interpreted differently by those who are passionate about it.
„Below, <<Jesus Hominum Salvator>> is engraved, which means <<Jesus the savior of the world>>, a logo of the Jesuits, but not only.

And upstairs, where we have the Eye of God, there is also a kind of sun with 14 rays. Do not forget that in the Catholic churches we have the Via Dolorosa, meaning the Way of Sorrow or the Way of the Cross and the 14 stops of Jesus. Why?

Because Jesus was crucified in the Jewish calendar on Nisan 14. And there is another hypothesis, an interpretation, that 1 and 4 make 5, the number referring to the wounds of Jesus, to the 5 wounds, the last one having been made by the guardian Longinus, who will later convert to Christianity and be one of the smaller apostles of Christianity”, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici explains.
