Fie şi numai din cauza conjuncturilor istorice, românii şi maghiarii, dar mai ales liderii lor, n-au fost întotdeauna în cele mai cordiale relaţii. La nivelul oamenilor de rând din cele două etnii au existat şi există numeroase exemple de prietenii trainice, frăţeşti. Dar există asemenea legături strânse şi la nivelul liderilor lor.

Un astfel de ultim exemplu este prietenia dintre românul Octavian Goga şi maghiarul Ady Endre. Însemnătatea prieteniei lor este cu atât mai importantă cu cât s-a consumat şi înainte, şi în timpul şi după momentul de la 1 decembrie 1918, când Transilvania a părărsit Ungaria şi s-a unit cu restul României. O scurtă incursiune în sânul acestei prietenii ne-o prezintă istoricul clujean Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

O mare prietenie româno-maghiară trece prin Ciucea

„Suntem în faţa casei în care a locuit Ady Endre cu soţia sa Berta, între 1915 şi 1917. Din 1968 este o casă memoraială, în care sunt prezentate o serie de fotografii, documente şi alte acte din activitatea marelui poet maghiar. De asemenea, este şi un muzeu etnografic, cu mobilier din acea perioadă.

Un lucru demn de amintit este prietenia dintre cei doi mari poeţi, care ar trebui să fie un model şi pentru foarte mulţi concitadini de-ai noştri din ziua de astăzi. Cei doi, indiferent că erau de etnii diferite, aveau un lucru în comun: le plăcea viaţa, le plăcea adevărul şi le plăcea dreptatea. La început de secol XX, marea majoritate a românilor din Transilvania făceau parte din Austro-Ungaria, ca de altfel şi Banatul.

Prietenia dintre cei doi s-a cimentat pe parcursul activităţii lor”, explică istoricul clujean.

Octavian Goga şi Ady Endre. Eu ţi-s frate, tu mi-eşti frate

Există mai multe exemple ale prieteniei dintre Ady Endre şi Octavian Goga, dar sunt două mai relevante. Când Ady Endre îl numeşte frate pe Octavian Goga şi-i ia apărarea, şi când Octavian Goga a făcut tot posibilul ca să cumpere domeniul de la Ciucea de la văduva bunului său prieten.

„De exemplu, atunci când Octavian Goga, datorită luptei sale susţinute pentru drepturile şi libertăţile românilor, este încarcerat, iar Ady Endre îi ia apărarea într-un cotidian de marcă al Budapestei de atunci, numindu-l <<frate al meu>> şi criticând autorităţile de la Budapesta pentru faptul că pe luptătorul român Octavian Goga, pe poetul român, l-au întemniţat şi-l ţineau într-o situaţie precară şi din punct de vedere moral, dar şi din punct de vedere fizic.

De asemenea, trebuie amintit că Goga şi-a amintit de acest lucru şi este motivul principal pentru care el a cumpărat acest domeniu de la Ciucea de la văduva lui Ady Endre, spunând la un moment dat că, în orice caz şi în orice moment, văduva şi, mai ales, văduva unui prieten trebuie să fie ajutată. Goga s-a gândit în primul rând la prietenia cu Ady Endre, dar şi la situaţia Bertei, însă legătura dintre cei doi mari poeţi ne arată un lucru extrem de frumos, o colaborare care ar fi benefică între popoare şi care ar aduce mult mai mult bine în societate.

Toate lucrurile frumoase se fac prin colaborări, – ştiinţifice, culturale etc. – iar lucrurile extremiste dăunează şi de o parte, şi de cealalată”, apreciază Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici.

Due to historical conjunctures, Romanians and Hungarians, but especially their leaders, were not always on good terms. When it comes to the ordinary people from the two ethnic groups, there were and still are numerous examples of lasting, brotherly friendships. Such close ties also existed between some leaders, for example, the friendship between the Romanian Octavian Goga and the Hungarian Ady Endre. The significance of their friendship is all the more important as it was consumed before, during and after the moment of December 1, 1918, when Transylvania left Hungary and united with the rest of Romania. Cluj-based historian Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici presents us a brief inquiry into this matter.

A great Romanian-Hungarian friendship passes through Ciucea

“We are in front of the house where Ady Endre lived with his wife Berta, between 1915 and 1917. It has been a memorial house since 1968, where a series of photographs, documents and other files from the activity of the great Hungarian poet are kept. It is also an ethnographic museum, with furniture from that period.

One thing worth remembering is the friendship between the two great poets, which should be a model for many of our fellow citizens today. In spite of the fact that they were of different ethnicities, the two had one thing in common: they liked life, they liked the truth and they liked justice. At the beginning of the 20th century, the vast majority of Romanians in Transylvania were part of Austria-Hungary, as well as Banat.

The friendship between the two got stronger during their activities”, the historian from Cluj explains.

Octavian Goga and Ady Endre. A brotherly friendship

There are several examples for the friendship between Ady Endre and Octavian Goga, but two of them are more relevant. When Ady Endre calls Octavian Goga his brother and defends him, and when Octavian Goga did everything possible to buy the Ciucea estate from his good friend’s widow.

“For example, when Octavian Goga is imprisoned, as a result of his fight for Romanians’ rights and freedoms, and Ady Endre defends him in a famous Budapest newspaper, calling him his brother and criticizing the authorities in Budapest for the fact that the Romanian fighter Octavian Goga, the Romanian poet, was imprisoned and kept in a precarious situation from both a moral point of view, and a physical one.

Goga remembered this and it is the main reason why he bought the domain in Ciucea from Ady’s widow, saying at one point that, in any case and at any time, the widow, and especially the widow of a friend, must be helped. Goga thought about his friendship with Ady Endre, and also about Berta’s situation, but the connection between the two great poets shows us something extremely beautiful, a collaboration that would be beneficial between nations and that would bring much more good in our society.

All beautiful things come through collaborations – scientific, cultural, etc. – and extremist things are harmful for both sides”, Vladimir Alexandru Bogosavlievici believes.
